We can’t imagine why so many people want to visit these golf courses except for marking something off their bucket list. From extreme climates to scaling heights, we are about to take you through the most Extraordinary Golf Courses in the World!

Kabul Golf Course

If you’re one for living life on the edge, this one is for you! Located in Afghanistan, be prepared to have an armed escort take you from hole to hole. Surprisingly, people have spent upwards of $80,000 to make the trek to this dangerous, battle-scarred golf course! Thankfully, they have bodyguards and helicopters to take you out of harm’s way if things get hairy. We can’t imagine this would be a very relaxing experience!

Legend Golf Resort

This course is located in South Africa among the mountains and the wilderness! To play the 19th hole, you are required to take a helicopter up 1,300 feet to the top. Not to mention this hole is still a regulation par 3, so make sure you line up your tee shot for success even though the green is 1,300 feet below you!

Merapi Golf Club

This golf course gives you another opportunity to live life on the edge. You will be playing next to a giant, active volcano in Indonesia! Some people have paid for 18 holes and unforeseen circumstances have compelled you to leave the course early. YIKES!

Arikikapakapa Rotorua Golf Course

Maybe volcanoes aren’t your thing; however, how about bubbling, hot springs? This golf course is surrounded by steaming hot springs and the smell of Sulfur. That adds a whole new meaning to water hazard! If this one is for you, it’s time to head to New Zealand to experience this golf course!

The Brickyard Crossing

This course may be one of the most unique around, but it is located in an exciting area! Four of its holes are positioned inside the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Maybe you’ve heard of the INDY 500, maybe not. Either way, the views of the race from the golf course are to die for! It's definitely an experience you don't want to miss.

La Paz Golf Club

Have you been to Bolivia? Neither have we, but this course is resting just over 11,000 feet above sea-level! You’ll be able to enjoy a round of golf and breath-taking views all at one time. Does the altitude affect your shot? Absolutely, you can actually hit the shot straighter and further because the air isn’t as thick. This might cause some issues if this is your first visit to La Paz!

Uummannaq

Playing golf in the cold is already difficult, but can you imagine playing when temperatures can drop as low as -58 Degrees Fahrenheit! Bundling up is an understatement for this course which is located in Greenland. Because of how extreme the weather is, there are some years where you can’t play golf at this particular golf course at all! On the plus side, you are only 500 miles away from the north pole so make sure you write Santa a good Christmas List while you are there!

We are complete advocates here at American Hole ‘n One for crossing items off your bucket list, but we definitely want to make sure you pack accordingly for these extraordinary golf courses. From armed guards and active volcanoes to bubbling hot springs and frozen earth floors, there is a golf course for everyone’s bucket list here!
