Masters 2019 Predictions

By: Colin Robinson

It’s getting close to every golfer’s favorite tournament of the year, The Masters. Guess what - The American Hole ‘n One team is no different! We launched our Masters 1,2,3 promotion last month where you can guess the winners and win your hole in one contract for free. So, being the new guy in the U.S. office, I was volunteered to share my predictions with you all.

We are a company that is based on both sides of the pond so when giving my predictions I thought it best to keep both sides happy and give my thoughts on a couple of players from all around the globe!

The Home Contingent

There are so many extremely talented players in the U.S., and it is extremely difficult to pick a couple of contenders that stand out above the others. However, that is my job today and I have to say that it’s hard to look past Dustin Johnson. His form this year has been incredible, he’s done well at Augusta before and, traditionally, underestimating the world’s number one player is generally ill-advised. My second pick from the American pool is Justin Thomas, he is one of the many bombers on tour and he already has a major in bank! Of course, there are so many other Americans to keep your eye on, Rickie Fowler, Jordan Spieth, and reigning champ Patrick Reed.

The Rest of the World

The Masters is one of the major tournaments that has a global past winners list. I believe this tournament is truly a pure test of golf skill because it is extremely rare that a player will get unlucky bounces and good shots unrewarded at AugustaNational. My first ‘Rest of the World’ choice is Rory Mcilroy, and it’s not just because I’m British! He is in the best form of his life with 6 top ten finishes in his last 8 starts including a recent win at the Players Championship. My second ‘Rest of the World’ choice is also from Europe and its young Spaniard Jon Rahm. His firepower and passion will hold him in great stead and could win him the Green Jacket this year.

The Experience

Due to the event being held at the same venue every year the players with experience do very well. This is extremely important when it comes to the weekend as The Masters offers up a unique and extreme pressure. My first choice from the players coming in with experience is none other than former world number one and the tour’s comeback king, Tiger Woods.

Tiger’s comeback last season rocked the world and if he gets into contention, I think it would be foolish not to choose him! My second choice is another former winner Phil Mickelson, I always think a left-handed player has an advantage at Augusta as it's easier to fade the ball than draw, generally speaking. If he was to win it would make him the oldest major winner ever.

My Personal 1,2,3

  1. Rory Mcilroy
  2. Justin Rose
  3. Rickie Fowler

With all of the entries in, so far, our customers agree with me. Over 50% also have Rory slipping on the green jacket. But will he win? And if he does, will one of our customers correctly guess all three top finishers to win their contract for free? I know I’ll be watching and I’m sure you will be too.
